Before becoming a professional in the field of mental health, I walked my own path through many difficult and complex experiences. These include growing up in foster care, surviving abuse, navigating sexuality and gender identity, and struggling with depression, self-harm, and the use of drugs and alcohol.
At times, life felt overwhelming, I experienced psychosis at aged 16 and was sectioned under the Mental Health Act. Through my own lived experience of complex PTSD, dyslexia, and neurodiversity, I understand the challenges these can bring.
Each experience has shaped who I am today and my ability to hear others with empathy.
My journey is not one of defeat, but of transformation. I have taken the struggles I faced and used them to build empathy, understanding, and resilience.
They give me a perspective that cannot be learned from books alone.
Now, as a qualified and insured professional in mental health and wellbeing, I bring both lived experience and formal training to my work.
This unique combination allows me to connect with people in a way that is authentic, compassionate, and grounded in real understanding and professional knowledge.
I know how isolating it can feel when you believe nobody understands.
I also know how powerful it is to be truly heard, valued, and supported. For me, part of the struggle was how difficult it was to find professionals who could really connect with me.
Through my work in healthcare and studying counselling, I gained a deep understanding of how practice and theory work, both personally and professionally.
My aim is to provide that same safe and supportive space for others.
